Please note: The Strelitzia nicolai ‘Bird of Paradise’ is currently only avaliable for click and collect to our Derbyshire store.
This structural evergreen is primarily grown for its handsome (banana-like) foliage, which becomes shredded as it ages. Given time and the right conditions however, it may occasionally produce an orange flowerhead too! In it’s native environment, this plant can grow to a great height (the foliage alone nearing 4m), but when confined to a pot and kept as an indoor plant, it will be a much more modest, but no less decorative. During the warmer months this plant can be kept outdoors but must be brought indoors for the colder months as this plant can not withstand cold temperatures or frost. Water this plant regularly throughout the growing season (April-October) and cut back on waterings during the colder months.
Please note: All plants are unique and so may not appear exactly like that in the photos, but will be of a similar size and variety. Ceramic pot just for visual purpose, plant supplied in plastic nursery pot.
